In Calgary, October isn’t really the time to be winterizing your lawn. That’s because, usually, we’ve already had a snowfall or two, and our grass has already begun to go dormant. Aeration breaks up packed down soil and allows water, nutrients, and air to have more direct contact with your lawn’s roots. This promotes root growth in your grass. The grass is better able to out compete weeds and remains greener during times of drought.

Weeding can be a tedious chore, but Fall is the time to really sink some hours into it. That’s because many weeds distribute their seeds just before going dormant for the winter. If you can get rid of those weeds before the seeds are released, you’ll be a step ahead of the game next spring.
